Welcome to Dr. Barry Katzman’s podiatry blog. I recieved my undergraduate degree in distributed sciences from The American University in Washington, D.C. and my medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1983 where I then did an additional post graduate year of study. I have been in private practice since 1984, serving the Bellerose, New York and surrounding communities. I have always been very athletic and competed in many varsity sports as a student and continue to be very active today, whether it is jogging, rollerblading, playing my weekly softball game, playing tennis, raquetball or working out at the gym. My many years of atheltics give me a double perspective along with my medical training when diagnosing and treating athletes and sports injuries. My practice see all ages of patients from those just a few months old to the geriatric population. Podiatric medicine and surgery includes diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. I am board certified in podiatric orthopedics and have published articles in medical journals on heel spurs and plantar fasciitis. I treat all medical and surgical conditions of the feet and ankles. Education is power and through my blogs and website I hope to educate the public on some of the most common foot ailments, their causes and the different treatment modalities that are available. We have many patient education sheets available for our patients in my office, on our web site and now through my blog. My office offers many physical therapy modalities, x-ray on site as well as vascular testing. As many internists and general practitioners refer us their patients, we see a large number of diabetic patients as well as those patients needing diabetic shoes, custom orthotics, treatment of orthopedic deformities, surgical interention or routine foot care. Our office is handicapped accessable. We accept most insurances. We have morning, afternoon and evening hours as well as Saturday hours once a month. Our office phone is 718-470-0668. I welcome questions regarding anything podiatric related.
